Third Unitarian Church (Chicago) is continuing to partner with the Central Austin Neighborhood Association to address issues of low police responsiveness across the city's predominantly African-American West Side, and we provide material support for CANA in their ACLU-backed lawsuit against the City of Chicago. We're also working with the Austin office of Chicagoans Concerned About Foreclosures and Evictions, as they now use TUC (along with some TUC'ers) as a base for canvassing to alert our neighboring residents as to steps they can take to protect their homes against foreclosures, hasty evictions and predatory lending practices.
Lastly, Third continues its four-decade practice this spring of awarding scholarships to qualifying college-bound residents of Austin in our 38th Annual Austin Scholarship ceremony on Sunday, June 3, 2012.
