Join senior high youth from across the MidAmerica region at JusticeCON 2013! Heartland's annual social justice CON will be packed full of workshops on a range of social justice issues, such as justice and oppression, immigration, environmental stewardship, ethical eating, and poverty. Conferees will have the opportunity to participate in community service projects Saturday afternoon. Interfaith Youth Core will be there (IFYC is speaking at GA in June, but you can see them here, first!), PLUS there will be a keynote presentation by regionally renowned musician Denise Wilson titled "We Shall Overcome: 200 Years of Singing for Justice in America." Early bird registration deadline is Feb. 8, and registrations will be cut off once we reach our capacity of 100 conferees. Scholarship assistance is available. Don't miss out!

Stand with other UU’s as we learn, reflect, serve, and create a “Standing on the Side of Love,” fair food action to bring awareness to the noble efforts of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers. We will be learning about the Campaign for Fair Food, and will be taking a public stance in an action to pressure the corporate food industry, with companies such as Kroger’s, Publix, and Giant, to come to the bargaining table with CIW. We will be immersed in learning, action, service, and reflection to honor CIW’s pledge:
The Alternative Fair Food Spring Break will begin on Wednesday evening, March 20th at the UU Church of Ft. Myers, FL. On Thurs., 3/21, we will caravan to the community center of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, in Immokalee, FL, and then on Friday, 3/22, we will create and take part in a Standing on the Side of Love fair food campaign action (which is open to the public).
