The future of most religious institutions in America is not promising. Congregations as we have known them are struggling to maintain themselves and many are closing their doors, while increasing numbers of Americans say they have no religion. Yet Unitarian Universalists remain buoyant and many of us are confident that we can not only outperform the downward curve but actually grow in numbers during the coming generation. What are the reasons for our cautious optimism and what concrete strategies can we employ to realize our dreams?
