Rev. Nancy McDonald Ladd
Theme Speaker and Leader for a workshop
Nancy has served as minister to the Bull Run Unitarian Universalists in Virginia since 2004. She studied theology at Xavier University and divinity at Meadville Lombard Theological School before entering parish ministry. Her writing has appeared in several publications including Minister X: How Generation X Ministers are Shaping Unitarian Universalism, from Jenkin Lloyd Jones Press, The UU World magazine, and A People So Bold: Theology and Ministry for Unitarian Universalists, from Skinner House Books. She lives in Centreville, Virginia with her family.
Rev. Scott McNeill
Chaplain and Evening Vespers leader
Scott joined PSD in the summer of 2010 as he and his wife, Rev. Sarah Gettie Burks, moved to Omaha, Nebraska. He serves as the minister at the Second Unitarian Church of Omaha, where he is getting to know the members and the community around the congregation. So far, he has started to become involved in Omaha Together One Community (OTOC), the Omaha Community Meal for the homeless and local GLBT events. Before coming to Omaha, Scott studied in Chicago and Fairfax, VA and served as a summer minister in North Carolina and Michigan. He received the 2004 Mary Ella Holst Youth Activist Award from the UU Service Committee and was the 2010 recipient of awards in New Testament Studies and Preaching at Meadville Lombard Theological School.
Accompanist working on the Morning Celebration and other musical events
Bruce has been the music director at Michael Servetus Unitarian Society in Fridley, Minnesota (a suburb of the Twin Cities) for 27 years. He directs the choir, the wind ensemble, leads and performs in the Delphi Jazz Trio, Class Act Quartet, MSUS Vocal Quartet, and occasional drumming groups. The church also has a fun bluegrass group. Not bad for a church of less than 100 members!
You will quickly find out that Bruce loves to share his joy of music in many ways. This is his third year at Camp StarTrail.
Children’s Program Coordinator Ginny Malcomson
Ginny is a part time naturalist for Polk County Conservation where she has worked for 14 years. During that time she also co-created Toddling on the Wildside, an environmental education program for toddlers and their parents through E Resources Group, cofounded KinderNature, an environmental education resource website and presented ICN workshops for early childhood educators through Story County Conservation and Iowa Public Television. Her favorite 'jobs' are mom to daughter, Lauren and wife to husband, Rob.
This is Ginny’s third year working with children at Camp StarTrail.
Liz, a student at University of Wisconsin-Stout, is returning for a third year as a Children’s Counselor.
Morgan is returning for a third year.
Sherry is the PSD Youth and Young Adult Specialist. She also has served the Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence as their half-time Director of Religious Education since 2002. Sherry has worked with youth across PSD and is always looking for ways to bring relevance to the lives of young people while having fun and growing relationships. She taught a combined adult and young adult Our Whole Lives class at a previous year’s Camp StarTrail, has spent time at Camp UniStar during Youth Week 1, and is faculty at MidWest Leadership School for Youth. She is looking forward to the relaxed and fun week that she is sure is waiting at Camp StarTrail and hopes there will be lots of facepainting opportunities so she can work on her art skills.

She’s been District Executive since 1995 and is happy that the dream of having a camp to serve UUs in the southern part of the District has been realized.
